CHEROKEE SET TO TAKE ON METRO

(OPEN HOME SCHEDULE SATURDAY NIGHT)

 

 

Toledo OH – The Toledo Cherokee members of the NA3HL get ready for two game set against the Metro Jets this Friday and Saturday. The Cherokee will travel to Waterford MI on Friday to take on the Jets at 7:50PM inside Lakeland Arena.

 

On Saturday the Cherokee will open the home portion of the schedule as they wrap up the home and home series versus Metro. Face is set for 8:30PM (To accommodate GTAHA day at the Ice House).

 

Fans will get their first look at the newly designed home jerseys on Saturday night.

 

“We are hoping with it being GTAHA day the place will be packed and our guys can feed off the crowd, they have been looking forward to this weekend for a while now.” Said head coach Kenny Miller

NOTES: Goaltender Aaron Callan (South Lyon MI) picked up the 2nd star of the week award in the NA3HL East division with his stellar play in Cincinnati . Forward Dominic Pisanti (Temperance MI) was honorable mention this week.

TOLEDO SWEEPS OPENING WEEKEND

(Cherokee Earn Four Points In Cincinnati)

 

Toledo OH - The Toledo Cherokee of the NA3HL opened the regular season with a two game sweep against the Cincinnati Swords. On Saturday in the Queen City the Cherokee doubled up the Swords by a score of 2-0. Goaltender Aaron Callan (South Lyon MI) recorded his first shutout of the season making 18 saves. Veterans Austin Turner (Temperance MI) and Dominic Pisanti (Temperance MI) scored for Toledo in the win.  Kyler Omey (Sylvania OH) and David Bogart (Northwood OH) picked up assists in the contest.

 

“I thought we played really well on Saturday for our first game, the guys had A lot of energy and we played as a team. It is our job as a coaching staff to make sure our players get better every day and I felt on Sunday we took a step back after we got the two goal lead. But all in all we are happy with the four points we picked up.” Said head coach Kenny Miller

 

On Sunday in the series finale the Cherokee jumped out to a 2-0 early in the game with goals by Cain Maison (Holland OH) and Cody Estrel (Sylvania OH), Cincinnati would tie the game and take the lead 3-2 heading into the second period but it was all Cherokee in the second and third frames. Estrel would score his second of the game shorthanded to tie the score at 3 apiece with assists going to Tyler Zalecki (Northwood OH) and Bogart. Brody Duncan (Toledo OH) would score the game winner late in the second period with a slap shot from the top of the circle. Pisanti added his second goal of the weekend on the power play in the third period to seal the win 5-3. Callan replaced Glen Bates (Ida MI) to start the second period and picked up his second win of the year making 16 saves. Jimmy Howell (Allen Park MI) had two assists while Aaron Roschinsky (Canton MI) added an assist.

 

Toledo will travel to Waterford MI this Friday to take on the Metro Jets face off is at 7:50PM.

 

The two teams will return to the Ice House on Saturday for the Cherokee home opener, the puck will drop at 8:30PM (Special start time to accommodate GTAHA day at the arena)

TOLEDO CHEROKEE OPEN REGULAR SEASON THIS WEEKEND

(HEAD TO CINCINNATI FOR TWO GAME SET)

 

Toledo OH: The Toledo Cherokee of the NA3HL will open the regular season this Saturday September 6th in Cincinnati versus the Swords. The two teams will play a two game set in the Queen City this weekend. On Saturday night the puck will drop at 7:00PM and face off is set for 12:15PM on Sunday September 7th.

“The coaching staff along with all the players are excited to get the regular season underway, it’s been a long couple of weeks practicing getting ready for this weekend and we are looking forward to playing some really strong teams in our division.” Said head coach Kenny Miller

TOLEDO CHEROKEE SET TO PLAY

TWO EXHIBITION GAMES

(Home and Home series with the West Michigan Wolves)

 

 

Toledo OH: The Toledo Cherokee proud members of the NA3HL have announced the exhibition schedule for the 2014-2015 season. Toledo will travel to Battle Creek on Friday August 29th to take on the West Michigan Wolves face off is set for 8:00PM.

The two teams will return to the Team Toledo Ice House on Saturday August 30th for a matinee game that is slated to start at 1:00PM.

“This will be a good chance for the coaching staff to see some of our new faces in game action, we had a good camp now it is time to start practicing and get our team ready for these two pre season games.” Said Head Coach Kenny Miller

Fans attending Saturday’s home game are asked to bring either soap or shampoo for admission into the game. “This is the second year in a row we have asked the fans instead of buying a ticket to the preseason game we are asking them to bring soap or shampoo it goes along way with the guys during the season, last season was a huge success and I expect this year to be the same.” added Miller

The Cherokee will open the regular season on September 6th in Cincinnati versus the Swords, before returning to the Ice House on Saturday September 13th at 8:30PM VS. Metro (Special start time to accommodate GTAHA day at the Ice House)

TOLEDO CAPTAIN HEADED TO ADRIAN (ACHA D1 CLUB)
 

The Toledo Cherokee of the NA3HL are proud to announce that forward Zach Armstrong has chosen Adrian College to continue playing in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division I.

Armstrong, who hails from Findlay, Ohio, was the Cherokee captain this past season.

In 94 career games for Toledo the 5’8’’ 155 center scored 14 goals and added 33 assists for a total of 47 points.

Zachwas honored with the NA3HL Academic Achievement Award. Armstrong graduated this summer from Findlay High School and ranked 15th out of 400 in his class. He scored a 28 on his ACT.

He will attend school on a full academic scholarship at Adrian College in Michigan.

During the 2014 NA3HL Top Prospects event Armstrong notched 1 goal and 1 assist in the 3 game event.

"Zach is the ultimate team guy, he plays hard every night and his hard work has paid off. He will do very well at the next level, I am very happy for him and his family." said Toledo head coach Kenny Miller.

The entire Toledo Cherokee organization would like to wish Zach continued success at Adrian.

TOLEDO CHEROKEE UNVEIL NEW JERSEYS FOR 14-15 SEASON

 

June 28, 2014

Toledo OH – As the Toledo Cherokee prepare for the upcoming 2014-15 season the players that will represent the club will be doing so in brand new re-designed jerseys.The Cherokee unveiled not only new jersey’s but a brand new color scheme going with an all white home jersey with red trim, gone is the solid black road jersey replaced by a red sweater with white trim.

 

“We wanted to do something different. It was time for new jerseys and with black being the primary color for years we decided to go in a different direction. As a staff we are very happy with the way they turned out, I know our players and fans will love the new sweaters.” Stated General Manager/Head Coach Kenny Miller

 

The Cherokee will unveil the road sweaters in Cincinnati on Saturday September 6th as they open the season on the road. The white home sweaters will be unveiled on Saturday September 13th when the Cherokee open the home schedule against the Metro Jets that is also GTAHA day at the Toledo Ice House when every team within the organization will be playing games.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR HOME GAMES

 

The Toledo Cherokee proud members of the NA3HL are looking for volunteers for the upcoming season. The club is looking to fill the following positions for all 24 home games. Goal Judges, Penalty Box Attendants, Ticket Takers, as well as other positions.

Every volunteer will receive two FREE tickets for family and friends for the game they are scheduled to work.

Season Passes are available for $80.00 each. Individual games $5.00 for adults(18 and over). Under 18 $4.00. All GTAHA youth players who wear their jerseys to the game get in FREE.
